HSA Foundation: AMD and ARM want unified platform

AMD has established instruments, the HSA Foundation - Heterogenous system architecture - with several like-minded companies including ARM, MediaTek, and Texas together to establish a single chip architecture. As merger was announced at the AMD Developer Summit, should a uniform standard for x 86- and arm the effort in software programming low keep can and all available resources can better exploit.

To achieve this goal, the companies involved are working on a specification that can meet a single programming model. AMD would like to implement the chip design by 2014. The representatives of the HSA participants make also clear, a simple programming environment and tools are as important. So market leaders like for example NVIDIA of the non profit society could include too soon.
