HSA Foundation: AMD and ARM want unified platform

AMD has established instruments, the HSA Foundation - Heterogenous system architecture - with several like-minded companies including ARM, MediaTek, and Texas together to establish a single chip architecture. As merger was announced at the AMD Developer Summit, should a uniform standard for x 86- and arm the effort in software programming low keep can and all available resources can better exploit.

To achieve this goal, the companies involved are working on a specification that can meet a single programming model. AMD would like to implement the chip design by 2014. The representatives of the HSA participants make also clear, a simple programming environment and tools are as important. The company which HAS Foundation will still join in the future is uncertain, however, the founding members keeping open all doors. So market leaders like for example NVIDIA of the non profit society could include too soon.
