Acer Aspire One 522: AMD Fusion "Ontario" performance

The Acer Aspire One 522 is the first netbook powered by AMD's C-50 (Ontario) Accelerated Processing Unit. The AMD C-50 APU, is a dual-core processor clocked at 1.0GHz rated with only 9W TDP. The chip integrates a Radeon HD 6250 graphics processing clocked at 280MHz and supports DirectX 11.

Unlike most netbooks with a 1024 x 600 resolution screen, the Aspire One 522 has a high resolution 10.1-inch 720P (1280 x 720). The unit also comes with a 2GB of RAM, Wireless b/g/n and Bluetooth 3.0, and most importantly, it has HDMI out.

So how well does this new netbook perform. Having been launched early in the Philippines, we do not get the benefit of foreign reviews, and we do not have any local ones either. One of our countrymen got one and posted a mini review at the Notebook Review forums.

The Aspire One 522 has the following Windows Experience Index Scores:

Processor: 2.8
RAM: 4.8
Graphics: 4.0
Gaming: 5.5

HD: 5.5

These are the WEI scores of the Nvidia Optimus/Atom N525 equipped Asus Eee PC1215:

Processor: 3.5
RAM: 4.9
Graphics: 3.3
Gaming: 5.6

HD: 5.9

Not bad at all for your 18K.
