Jump Force is a fighting game

Probably one of the most interesting crossover games of the year is likely to be Bandai Namco's Jump Force, which brings together many characters from the Japanese manga magazine Shonen Jump on the occasion of their 50th birthday. We were allowed to play the game for you at gamescom.

If you like anime and manga you can not avoid the classic titles like Dragonball, Naruto and Hunter X Hunter. These originated in the Shonen Jump magazine mentioned above (which was published in Germany for a while under the name "Banzai!"). The mangas have already had some cross-over editions and special episodes in which, for example, Luffy from One Piece and Son Goku from Dragonball have already met, but the associated games have never crossed the boundaries of the individual manga universes. With Jump Force, however, several universes of Mangahelden are mixed. The evil forces of the different worlds unite and threaten to throw everything into chaos.

According to Bandai, Jump Force is said to have an interesting story mode, which allows the villains of the various manga ranks to compete against the beloved heroes, but details of the story have not yet been revealed. However, those who prefer to compete against human opponents, should receive this option in addition to the obligatory local multiplayer via an online lobby to compete against players around the world. At the time of the presentation, the following characters were playable: Luffy, Zorro, Sabo, Blackbeard, Sanji Son Goku, Vegeta, Freezer Naruto, Sasuke Ichigo, Rukia, Sosuke Gon, HisokaAt the end of the first game trailer Light Yagami and the Shinigami Ryuk are still teased, but we find it hard to imagine these characters in a beat em up game, so they are likely to play a role only in the story.

It was also announced at the gamescom own character. There will be a customizable character, which the player can be composed of the abilities of the other characters, the appearance is adapted via an editor.

During our hands-on, we were able to put together a team of three characters in Versus mode, switching between characters during the fight as well as triggering combo attacks with the passive characters. The controls are kept relatively simple, special attacks can be displayed by holding down the right shoulder button and then using one of the action buttons. however, stronger attacks require more energy, which is replenished by normal hits, and also have a short activation time, which the opponent can interrupt.

Jump Force is expected to be released in 2019 for PlayStation 4, XBox One and PC
